Workshop Overview:
In our modern, sedentary lifestyles, the strain on our backs and the resulting poor posture often go unnoticed until discomfort becomes a regular part of our lives. Backbends are an essential practice in yoga that can help counteract these issues, enhancing spinal flexibility, opening the front body, and rejuvenating our spirit. Despite their benefits, many practitioners find backbends challenging due to various physical and mental barriers. Our Backbend Intensive workshop is designed to address these challenges head-on, providing a comprehensive and supportive environment to explore and master these vital asanas.
What to Expect:
This intensive series is structured to offer an in-depth exploration of backbends, focusing on both understanding and practical application. Each session will build on the previous one, but attending individual classes can still provide significant benefits.
- Class Structure: The workshops will begin with a thorough warm-up to prepare the body for deeper backbending. We will then dive into a variety of backbends, from foundational poses to more advanced variations, ensuring that each participant can find appropriate challenges and modifications suited to their skill level.
- Focus Areas: We will explore the key actions and mechanics involved in backbends, including alignment, breath control, and muscle engagement. Emphasis will be placed on finding a stable foundation and overcoming common limitations. We will also incorporate both active and restorative backbends to balance effort and relaxation, allowing for a holistic approach to the practice.
- Benefits: Participants will gain a clearer understanding of their own bodies and how to work with them safely in backbending poses. The intensive will provide tools and techniques to improve both strength and flexibility in the spine, enhance overall posture, and invigorate the mind and spirit.
- Format: Each class will last 1.5 hours, allowing us to delve deeply into the practice. The extended duration provides ample time to address individual needs, answer questions, and refine techniques in a supportive group setting.
Pricing and Booking:
The cost for the workshop series is the same as for regular classes—$20 or $23 per session. You may use your regular class pass or pay as usual. Workshops are a unique format compared to regular classes, offering a more intensive and immersive experience.
